Parts of a Wristwatch: The Crown

Many people own wristwatches and even know the right watch to use for an occasion just as we had shown in “There’s a Timepiece for Everything” or know what dress to use with a particular wristwatch as highlighted in “Fashion and Time” but many don’t actually know the different parts of a wristwatch.

THE CROWN

The crown is very important in a mechanical watch. It is used to wind the watch manually and also to set the time. The Setting Jumper, Sliding Pinion and Yoke are all parts of the crown.

In an automatic watch, the crown is mainly used for setting the time.
